FAQ
| 1. | What kind of skin is prone to develop large pores? |
| Any kind of skin has the risks to develop large pores. However, oily skin type is more prone to have large pores as the skin tends to secrete excessive sebum. This causes over-stretching and damages to the skin tissue around the pores and forms large pores. |
| 2. | Why are my pores getting larger when I age? My pores are not so obvious when I am in my 20’ – 30’s. |
| It is a natural process that our skin becomes inelastic and pores become larger as we age. |
| 3. | I have lots of visible pores on my cheeks, chin, foreheads, and nose. What should I do? |
| There is no way to totally make these pores go away. With proper skincare routine that helps control sebum production, boost hydration, exfoliation, use vitamin C products and sunblock can improve and tighten the pores. Consume more food rich in vitamin C will help improve the collagen synthesis and hence, shrink the pores. Exercise, sufficient sleep, and pressure management will all assist in resolving the problem. |
| 4. | How does vitamin C tighten the pores? |
| Vitamin C, more exactly L-ascorbic acid, is essential in several enzymatic reactions in our body. For synthesis of collagen, L-ascorbic acid serves as a pro-collagen modifier in order for pro-collagen to become mature collagen and move to the skin pores area to help support the pores. With sufficient collagen, it provides the structural support system for tissue around the pores with strength and elasticity. In addition, it also acts as antioxidants to protect skin against oxidative stress and free radicals damage. |
| 5. | Will regular exfoliation helps? |
| Yes, it does. Regular and gentle exfoliation (twice or thrice a week for oily skin) is needed to disintegrate the dead or dry skin cells on the surface of skin to unclog pores. This also encourages new cell turnover and prevents acne formation, reducing the chance for acne occurrence. |
| 6. | Should I use cold water to close my large pores? |
| No. Cold water does not close large pores and can actually irritate the skin. To make the size of the pores less noticeable, rinse with tepid water (which makes skin feel tighter). |
| 7. | I used to have pimples on my face. Now in their place are large pores. How can I solve my large pores problem? |
| Start your skin care routine with a scrub cleanser to deep cleanse your pores. You should apply sebum control treatment to prevent the formation of acne, followed by pore tightening treatment to tighten your skin. Last and most importantly, use an exfoliant that helps in promoting cell renewal and sloughing off dead skin cells. Do not miss out on sunblock to protect your skin from harmful sun UVs. |
| 8. | I read some toner helps in tightening pores and using ice on face produces the same result, is this true? |
| Yes, some toners with alcohol or cold packs do help in pores tightening, but this is only temporary effect. In fact, it may cause skin irritation. Be careful when using these products in treating your large pores problem. |
